RULES & REGULATIONS

Global Musical Icon Music Competition organized by Shuddh Desi Radio is an annual summer event open to instrumentalists and vocalists of all nationalities, ages 5+. There is no upper age limit. The participants can choose songs either in HINDI or ENGLISH (no other languages are allowed at this point)

HOW TO ENTER

Please review all Rules & Regulations on this page and then complete your entry on Registration page, that will contain the fee details as well. 

Please note that all fees are non-refundable and are quoted in USD. Shuddh Desi Radio does not account or have any liability for any participants' bank fees and charges that may be levied as a result of currency conversion, foreign exchange transaction, or non-sufficient funds (NSF) transaction. If a check bounces due to account closed, stop payment, fraudulent, or NSF status you will be required to pay the full face amount plus $30 penalty fee, in addition to any charges imposed by the participating bank or institution.

Please be advised that all deadlines are due by 11:59 PM Central time on Dec 02, 2019. No late entries will be accepted after the pre-advertised late period. If there are any changes to the program these changes to the program must be communicated by the late fee deadline and must be accompanied with a $30 late fee payment.

AGE CATEGORIES 
  • Junior  (5 - 12)

  • Teen (13 - 19)   

  • Senior (20+)  

Note: Age category is determined with an age of the competitor as of the date of the competition. If requested, proof of age MUST be provided for each competitor. Anyone born after December 15, 2014 is not allowed to participate.

PARTICIPATION CATEGORIES

The competitor can participate in one or more of the following categories 

  • Solo

  • Group

The group size cannot exceed more than 10 people. All participants in the group MUST be of same age category. 

Based on Age Group and Participation Category, there will be the following competition categories

  1. Solo Voice Junior

  2. Group Voice Junior

  3. Solo Voice Teen

  4. Group Voice Teen

  5. Solo Voice Senior

  6. Group Voice Senior

  7. Solo Instrument Junior

  8. Group Instrument Junior

  9. Solo Instrument Teen

  10. Group Instrument Teen

  11. Solo Instrument Senior

  12. Group Instrument Senior

REPERTOIRE

Preliminary Round

The performers will be performing 1 para of their song or piece in the preliminary round. It must be performed from memory and cannot exceed 2 minutes. The performance will be stopped and score reduced if the competitor exceeds the allotted time.

The participants in Voice Category need to sing a song without any track in preliminary rounds.

The preliminary round will be conducted on the first day of event between 09:00 a.m Eastern Time and 03:00 p.m Eastern Time. The schedule of preliminary rounds will be communicated to participants via email by December 10, 2019.

Final Round

The top 3 or 4 competitors, based on their average score from the Preliminary rounds, within each competition category are selected to move on to the Final Round of the competition.

If you qualify to move on to the Final Round of the competition your repertoire should not include  the composition presented during the Preliminary  Round. It must be performed from memory and cannot exceed 3 minutes. The performance will be stopped and score reduced if the competitor exceeds the allotted time. You do not have to pay the separate participation fee if you qualify for the Final Rounds. 

The participants will be required to send the track or upload the track by Dec  05, 2019 in case they are in Voice Category or need track in Instruments Category. The instructions of uploading track will be communicated through email to the competitor.

The final round will be conducted on the second day of event. 

JUDGING CRITERIA

Each judge will evaluate the competitors on a number of criteria, such as range, artistic ability, technique, interpretation, phrasing and presence, among others, and will assign a score. The scores from all judges will then be averaged and the average score will determine your level. Please note that the decision of the judges is final. 

AWARDS

All participants will receive certificates at the conclusion of the competition. The following prizes and awards may be presented to competitors at the Awards Ceremony at the conclusion of the Final Round at the Venue. Competitors must be present during the Awards Ceremony to receive awards and they will not be sent by mail. In case of absence of competitor in the awards ceremony, the prize will be awarded to the next highest scorer.

Global Musical Icon Award

This award will be presented to the competitor getting the highest scores in all the categories. The one winner will receive an award worth $250-$500*.

Winner 

This award will be presented to one competitor with the highest score from the judges in Final Round. 

Runner-Up

This award will be presented to the second highest scorer. This will be awarded only in Juniors and Teens Category.

Certificate of Achievement Award

All competitors will receive a Certificate of Achievement Award.

Audience Choice Award

There will be "Audience Choice" Award that will be given based on the voting of audience at the time of Final Round. 

All awards and prizes will be awarded unless there is an insufficient number of eligible participants in a particular category or the judges determine that the quality of the competitor’s performance does not warrant a prize/award. If there is a tie for winners Prize Award, the scores from the prior round(s) will be used to determine the winner. If there is still a tie, the organizer reserves the right to determine the winner. Prizes and awards are non-assignable / non-transferable. Cash awards are paid in USD. All federal, state, provincial, autonomous, and local taxes are the sole responsibility of the winners.

* The organizers reserves the right to disclose the final amount of awards before the competition. The amount mentioned here is subject to change.

ACCOMPANIST

Shuddh Desi Radio does not provide an accompanist at this time. Therefore, please make your own arrangements if you require one or reach out in advance if you need help. The use of a recorded CD music background in place of using an accompanist is allowed.

TRAVEL EXPENSES

Competitors are responsible for their own as well as their accompanists’ travel and accommodation expenses.

DRESS CODE

Proper dress attire is required. So, please NO dress shorter than a knee level, jeans, sneakers, tennis shoes, keds, flip flops, open-toe shoes, shorts, tank tops, or t-shirts.

PUBLICITY

By submitting an entry form, each entrant, parent or legal guardian (if such entrant is a minor) authorizes the use of competitor's name, photo, audio and/or video recording for the publicity and advertisement purposes related to the competition by the Shuddh Desi Radio.

GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Shuddh Desi Radio, LLC (referred to as Shuddh Desi Radio) is not responsible for and shall not be held liable for (a) lost, late, delayed, damaged, incomplete, illegible, unintelligible, or misdirected entries; (b) telephone, electronic, hardware or software program, network, Internet, or computer malfunctions, failures, or difficulties of any kind; (c) failed, incomplete, partial, garbled, or delayed computer transmissions; (d) any condition caused by events beyond the control of the Shuddh Desi Radio that may cause the competition to be disrupted; (e) any printing or typographical errors in any materials associated with the competition; (f) any claims, suits, actions, liabilities, injuries, losses, or damages of any kind in connection with the competition or resulting from acceptance, possession, or use of any prizes and awards. 

By entering this competition, each entrant, parent or legal guardian (if such entrant is a minor) agrees to accept these rules and be bound by the decisions of Shuddh Desi Radio, its judges and staff, which are final and binding in all matters. 

All rules and regulations are governed by the laws of the Tennessee and are subject to change without prior notice.
